Thomas J. Spada

Thomas Joseph Spada, of Surprise, Arizona died peacefully at his home on March 28th, 2023. He was born in Flushing, New York to Pasquale and Dolores Spada on November 27th, 1954. He was one of five children.

Tom was a kind and generous person who valued hard work. He had many jobs over the years in both the public and private sectors. He was a volunteer firefighter and police officer in Gold Beach, Oregon and also worked for the Santa Clara Water Company. Tom was especially proud of his construction company. He took great pride in the homes he renovated. Taking a simple house and turning it into a beautiful home that any family would be happy to call their own.

Tom met his future wife Karen at a mutual friend’s hot tub party in Brookings, Oregon. There was an instant spark between the two, one so strong not even Tom throwing Karen into the hot tub fully clothed could put out. They had a whirlwind romance and just a few months later Tom took Karen out for a romantic dinner, took her hand, and asked her to be his wife while a live guitar player played in the background. The pair married in Tahoe, Nevada in 1990 creating a blended family of six.

As a family, they would often travel both in their RV throughout the United States but also abroad taking many cruises and going to Belize, Napa, and of course Italy. Tom was very proud of his Italian heritage, and it may be because of his heritage his hobbies included cooking and drinking a good glass of red wine. Tom was able to make friends with anyone and had a story for everything, so everyone loved to gather around his table for not only the food, but also the conversation.

Tom is survived by his wife of 33 years Karen Spada, his daughters Nicole Spada, Nicole Osso, and Renee Lupole, his son John Spada, his sisters Delores Silva, Maria Esker,  Janine Gladfelter and his seven grandchildren Cassandra, Chloe, John, Samantha, Sydney, Christopher, and Kaitlyn. He is also survived by his beloved Doberman puppy, Zoey. He is preceded in passing by his parents, Dolores and Pasquale Spada and his brother Joseph Spada.
