She married David Warren Heiser of San Bernardino, California, on December 14, 1963, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pasadena, California. They were married for 59 years and met while their families were on a camping trip to Silver Lake, in the June Lake Loop, High Sierras, Mono County, California.

Martha was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, keeping a large garden for years and enjoyed countless fishing trips. She and Dave traveled over 1 million miles coast to coast, visiting and helping family and friends along the way. Martha was an avid reader.
