Linda Burke, who loved to be called “Mamaw,” departed her family, having passed away in her home in Phoenix, Arizona on July 15, 2023. Linda was born on March 3, 1949, and was 74 years old. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of Victory Freewill Baptist Church in Jonesville, VA and Christ Church of the Valley in Surprise, AZ.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Ester Jones of Sneedville, TN; sister: Lucille Jones of Greenville, TN; daughter: Patti Purkey of Bean Station, TN; and granddaughter: Jessicia Pace-Coleman of Morristown, TN.
Surviving are daughters: Robin (Richard) Sanders, grandchildren: Storm, Chailene and Caressa, and her great-great-grandson, Sammy Sanders of Jonesville, VA; Vicki Burke, granddaughters: Tiffany Lawson and Brittany Burke, great-great-granddaughter, Miranda Lawson (Everette) of Jonesville, VA. Mary (Jason) McCord, grandsons: James (her namesake), Mason and Sean of Phoenix, AZ. Her son, Randy Burke, grandchildren: Gage, Charity, Shawna, Joey and Wayne of Memphis, TN. Brother, Benny (Vivian) Jones, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special friends, Reagan Lee and Anna Marie Vigil Sutura and daughter, Autumn Jane.
At the last of days, she enjoyed watching TV, coloring, looking at her photo albums, crafting, gardening, time spent with her family, petting her beloved cat, Chibble and watching Statem Gap’s online services where her brother preached morning and evening Sunday Services.
Arrangements are being made for a return trip to Virginia and Tennessee. A memorial service will be held upon the return trip to Virginia and Tennessee. A memorial service date will be announced later.
