Mr. Kirk Kalaunuiohua Kahanu, 65 of Surprise, Arizona passed away June 21, 2024, in Surprise, Arizona of Frontal Temporal Lobe Dementia. He was born October 23, 1958, to Merle Kahanu and Marlene Kahanu in Norwalk, California.
Kirk and Leslie met in Downey, California and were wed on October 14, 1978 together. They shared a life of exciting travels, fun excursions and three wonderful children.
He is survived by his spouse, Leslie Kahanu; his daughters, Nikole Matthews (Garon) and Mallorie Kahanu (Johnny); his son, David Kahanu; sister, Lora Diebling and family; his brother, Brad Kahanu and family; his mother, Marlene Kahanu, as well as his four grandchildren: Kaili Matthews, Jack Matthews, Reif Kahanu and Ryder Kahanu.
His father, Merle Kahanu, preceded him in death.
Kirk’s laugh was contagious and will be remembered by everyone. Fun loving and easy-going was the name of the game for him. His love for adventure kept him a kid at heart. He enjoyed his waves – travels – finding Hidden Mickeys – but most of all, Kirk loved his family and everyone was family to him.
