  4. Dear Horgen family,

I am very sorry to hear that Diane passed away. She was my friend from the first day I joined Abbott in 1993. She was wonderful to work with, mixing dedication, knowledge, and work ethic with humor and a jovial personality. She always seemed happiest when she was talking about you, her family. When I last spoke with Diane a couple of months ago, we talked about having lunch this summer and my wife and I were looking forward to seeing her. We will miss her very much.

  5. Uncle Al,
Thinking of you and your boys at this very difficult times… many fond memories. Prayers and condolences.

  6. For several years when we lived in Chicago, we spent Thanksgivings at the Horgen’s. Diane cooked for a large family group of which we were the only pescatarians attending. This being several years ago, some folk found people who didn’t eat meat odd, to say the least.

Diane would meet us at the door with, “I made you fish.” We never asked nor did we expect to be served anything but the traditional turkey Thanksgiving dinner.

At first, I didn’t know how to take Diane’s abrupt greeting. But, I later realized how kind it was to make us something special, tell us privately, and not make a big deal that she had gone out of her way.

Diane Horgen taught me a lesson in kindness. Kindness is not what you say or how you say it, kindness is an action, kindness is what you do.

  7. Al and Family…..on behalf of the Kenosha Fire Department FAMILY, both ACTIVE and RETIRED members, our sincere sympathy to all of you on the loss of your beloved Diane. We share in your sorrow. We wish you many fond memories of the good times you all shared together as a FAMILY. Al, your Brothers and Sisters from the KFD FAMILY have “got your back, Brother”.

    In sorrow,
    Rich “Bo”Bosanko
    Battalion Chief-Retired
    Kenosha Fire Dept.
