Douglas Walter Hoelzen

Mr. Douglas Walter Hoelzen , 66 of Glendale, Arizona passed July 19, 2015 in Goodyear, Arizona. He was born October 4, 2015, to Warren Hoelzen Sr. and Rosemary Spiedell Hoelzen in Burlington, Iowa.

He graduated college with a master’s degree in business administration. Shortly after college he worked with the Bechtal Corporation at the nuclear generating station. He was then hired on by APS and retired after more than thirty years with the company. He easily made friends with everyone he met.

He was a kind and generous man who will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife Deborah Hoelzen; Daughters Amanda Reed and Donna Vanderslice; Son Douglas Hoelzen Jr; Brother Warren Hoelzen Jr.; and eleven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by both his parents and a granddaughter. The family suggest that  donations be made to The American Cancer Society in Arizona.

  1. Dear Wife and Family, our condolences on your loss. I knew Doug for many years and will miss all of the interesting conversations that we shared over the years. He was always happy to see me when I would come into his office at the Carpenter’s Shop. I worked on the outside at the Water Reclamation Facility for over 30 years myself so we crossed paths quite a few times over the years. I know that Doug was a good person and always willing to help out his fellow man be it with work or with words. He will be greatly missed by all of his old buddies out at Palo Verde!
